Another wedding coming up for FurrieBoots and this time we are heading to Aberdeen Beach Ballroom.

This Art Deco Building is a favourite of mine in Aberdeen and holds some good memories of Blues Awards Balls for Robert Gordon University.

Sunset on the Beach

This was taken a couple of years ago at low tide, I wasn’t out there in my wellies! I’d love to revisit this to see if I can improve on it. This is a bit harder now I am based in Newmachar.

I was visiting on Monday to go over the wedding that I will be shooting there in a few weeks and meeting with the couple that I am working for. The weather on Monday was fab if a little chilly, now just for it to be fine in June and not as cold!

A few larger blogs to come, but just now there have been a couple of little ones to let you know that I am still here… just not blogging as much as I should!

But it’s not been still.  That’s what happens when you have a 2 year old in your life.

Let me introduce you to Miss E. Eilidh

My feisty whirlwind, who is always on the move since she found her feet.  Loves bubbles, trains, trucks and Digga’s! Also loves cuggles and tickles! And her favourite dinners are “Pasta!” or “Chicken Rice!”.

The above photo was taken while having a run around Pittmedden Gardens near Ellon last summer. If you want a photoshoot with your little one, let me know. We can sort out a short session, and you can have the photos on a secure gallery from which you can make your selection from.

Oh, by the way… It is quiet now, she’s sleeping!

Well hello there!

Sorry for being a bit quiet but the Christmas period has been quiet with the camera apart from the shoot with Little D at the start of December.

This little guy was very cute kitted out in his Kilt and Prince Charlie jacket as seen here:-

He had a lot of fun showing me the Christmas Tree and the baubles on there. I traded some time playing “Cars” on my phone (Angry Birds Go) later as a thank you 🙂

Am looking forward to 2015, hopefully with a few ideas under my belt for FurrieBoots, so keep your eyes peeled!

London Noctilucent Mesospheric Clouds from Christoph Malin

I’ve been lucky enough to see these a few times over the past couple of years from the bedroom window here in Aberdeen and actually captured some on the camera too.

Noctilucent clouds occur in the summertime when the sun gets low enough below the horizon to light up these high clouds from below.

If you want to know more about these pretty little things, then head here.

I need to get out to the beach one night soon to see if I can get an alternative view point, but for now it’s a quick look out the window as it’s 2 weeks to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and I’m going to be a part of it! Hopefully I’ll have something to blog about when I get back, even if it some blurry phone photos if I get the chance 🙂

Have a good Wednesday!

Recently I have started following @dymagate on instagram lately, mostly due to him placing decorated padlocks (that he’s done with sharpies) and their keys around Aberdeen.  He then posts some pictures of them, but not all of the ones he has done to Instagram and people like me go out and hunt them out.

Why he does it is as below (copied from one of his posts recently)

1 year ago my mum was in the depths of treatment for skin cancer. Naturally I was incredibly worried. I was still working full time in Aberdeen and driving home to the west coast 3/4 times a week. At that period in my life I was saying “i love you” more than ever before. When I couldn’t be there I became incredibly anxious. I read a thing called “turn your anxiety into creativity” the best way to feel good about yourself is to do good by others. To that end I have left over 10,000 padlocks in Aberdeen Edinburgh Glasgow Dundee and Perth with positive messages written on them and the keys attached with the hope a stranger down on their luck might find it and get a positive boost or even the inspiration to do something special for someone else. Perhaps someone who feels like there is no one who cares will find one and realise thats simply not the truth. 1 year on and the project has become so popular I’ve been sending packs to people who live in areas too far a field for me to place locks so that they too can spread the free love. So far packs have gone to Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Denmark, several US states and most recently Kenya whilst I’ve taken them to places like Italy France and Egypt.”

I haven’t found a padlock yet, but have found the stickers that he has placed round town too. I like the Owls and have the Blue “follow your <3” as my cover photo on flickr at the moment. It has opened my eyes to see the town in a new light again (it’s a bit like geo-caching but without the GPS) and I seem to have found my phojo again. Though, to be honest, it’s mostly on the phone and Instagram at the moment. Doesn’t mean to say that I have put the DSLR down, I had it with me on a trip to London last week and I’ll post about that later on this week.

So, Do something special, share the love and remember that if you think no-one cares that you are alive, miss a few bill payments….  Seriously, go out, do a good turn and share the love. This is why I am sharing this with you and if you are in Aberdeen (or some of the other places that Dymagate has been too) keep your eyes open, You never know what you might find.

Have a good weekend!

Bucket list? What’s one of those?

Well it’s the list of things to do before you kick the bucket, shuffle off this mortal coil, die. Hence Bucket List. And I completed something off this list of mine yesterday morning.

Very early yesterday morning!

As some of you may have seen on facebook, I decided that I would get up at 3:30am and go hunt the sunrise, with a camera of course!

And this is what I captured…

Haar incoming

This is what it looked like the night before with the haar just hanging on the fringes of the city.

I got up at 3:30am, and left the house to head to Broad Hill by the beach to see what I could get. Pretty much had the city to myself apart from the noisy seagulls and a couple of lads who were singing their way up King Street.

When I finally climbed the hill, this was the view I got (complete with rubbish left strewn across the top of the hill, grrr)

Here comes the sun

Before Sunrise

The mist was sitting low on the Links and the haar was as usual following the rivers of the Dee and the Don, hiding the city centre and the harbour.

Didn’t have to wait long for what I had come to see.

Sunrise

Once the sun had come up a bit, I headed to the beach where I got the following shots before heading home back to bed by 6am!

At the Beach2

At the Beach3

It’s been a busy weekend with photos (taking them and still editing the ones from the wedding last week. If you are waiting to see them, I’m almost there!) Back to the day job tomorrow.
