London Noctilucent Mesospheric Clouds from Christoph Malin

I’ve been lucky enough to see these a few times over the past couple of years from the bedroom window here in Aberdeen and actually captured some on the camera too.

Noctilucent clouds occur in the summertime when the sun gets low enough below the horizon to light up these high clouds from below.

If you want to know more about these pretty little things, then head here.

I need to get out to the beach one night soon to see if I can get an alternative view point, but for now it’s a quick look out the window as it’s 2 weeks to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and I’m going to be a part of it! Hopefully I’ll have something to blog about when I get back, even if it some blurry phone photos if I get the chance 🙂

Have a good Wednesday!

Belton House

Belton House as you wouldn’t quite normally get to see it, even me as I been in places that the general public don’t usually get to see. A fab little film, that makes me want a go of one of these with the DSLR!

About Time

Well for the wedding of Sarah and Tom, what else could I title this post! I’ve known Sarah for over 15 years from meeting up at Sports committee meetings at Robert Gordon University, where she was the VP for sports and I was the Archery president. She and Tom got together 14 years ago, just before my now husband and I got together and I thought that they would tie the knot before I did, but how wrong was I!? Nearly 5 and half years after my own wedding, Sarah and Tom finally made it official at the Buchan Braes Hotel in Boddam. On the 30th of May, the day dawned a bit misty but with the prospect of the Haar being burned off, which it did and we got burnt along with it! Here is a sample of some of the pictures I took on that very sunny and happy day.

Obligatory Confetti Shot

As you can see, I had to contend with a lot of white and brilliant sunshine, how I wished for a bit of haze to help me out!

Blue and Games were the themes for the day

ST_30-05-14_086

See told you Games were a theme of the day!

There were a variety of games for playing after dinner from Cash and Guns (with foam guns I may add, no bodies are hidden…) to Carcassonne, to Formula De that 10 people could play. It was a great day all round, even though the extraction fan on the kitchen roof was running through most of the ceremony (which I forgot about until I saw a video of the ceremony) and we all caught a bit of sun and went a little pink. Thank you Sarah and Tom for asking me to be part of your day, it just wouldn’t have been the same as just as a guest (even though I would have been in more of the photos!) Will leave you with my favourite photo of the day, though it has been hard to choose, and remind you that if you would like to see more photos (and order some too 🙂 ) then please do not hesitate to contact me on the website or facebook and I will send you the link and password to the gallery!

One of my favourites of the day.

But things have been going on in the background.

Firstly, let me introduce my new website that can be found at www.furrie-bootsphoties.co.uk

This is my little site where I can display my best pictures and if you wish to buy them then please do so. If there isn’t a size or format on there or you wish a framed print, then please contact me through the website on the contact page or through the Facebook page.

I have had my second wedding (no, not my own but as the photographer) more about which I will blog later on.

And lastly, as some people have seen from my personal facebook page, I will be at the Glasgow2014 Commonwealth Games next month as a Clydesider so have been traipsing up and down to Glasgow for training and the like. As much as I would love to take the camera with me to document my time at Hampden, I won’t be allowed *insert sad face here* though I’ll be too busy anyway.

So hopefully in August, I can put my full attention back here to Furrie-Boots once I have recovered and be a bit more “vocal” on here 🙂

Happy Sunday!

Jo

Hello!

There are new things in the pipelines for Furrie-Boots Photies for 2014.

Stay tuned to see what they are!

Much Love

Jo

Facebook Page

Yup, just a quick plug for my facebook page. Looking for more likers and I will give away a print if I hit 300 by the end of the month.

The page is at the following link http://www.facebook.com/FurrieBootsPhoties So come on over, show me some love and I’ll show you some more pictures 🙂

Have a great weekend

Having my eyes opened again.

Recently I have started following @dymagate on instagram lately, mostly due to him placing decorated padlocks (that he’s done with sharpies) and their keys around Aberdeen.  He then posts some pictures of them, but not all of the ones he has done to Instagram and people like me go out and hunt them out.

Why he does it is as below (copied from one of his posts recently)

1 year ago my mum was in the depths of treatment for skin cancer. Naturally I was incredibly worried. I was still working full time in Aberdeen and driving home to the west coast 3/4 times a week. At that period in my life I was saying “i love you” more than ever before. When I couldn’t be there I became incredibly anxious. I read a thing called “turn your anxiety into creativity” the best way to feel good about yourself is to do good by others. To that end I have left over 10,000 padlocks in Aberdeen Edinburgh Glasgow Dundee and Perth with positive messages written on them and the keys attached with the hope a stranger down on their luck might find it and get a positive boost or even the inspiration to do something special for someone else. Perhaps someone who feels like there is no one who cares will find one and realise thats simply not the truth. 1 year on and the project has become so popular I’ve been sending packs to people who live in areas too far a field for me to place locks so that they too can spread the free love. So far packs have gone to Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Denmark, several US states and most recently Kenya whilst I’ve taken them to places like Italy France and Egypt.”

I haven’t found a padlock yet, but have found the stickers that he has placed round town too. I like the Owls and have the Blue “follow your <3” as my cover photo on flickr at the moment. It has opened my eyes to see the town in a new light again (it’s a bit like geo-caching but without the GPS) and I seem to have found my phojo again. Though, to be honest, it’s mostly on the phone and Instagram at the moment. Doesn’t mean to say that I have put the DSLR down, I had it with me on a trip to London last week and I’ll post about that later on this week.

So, Do something special, share the love and remember that if you think no-one cares that you are alive, miss a few bill payments….  Seriously, go out, do a good turn and share the love. This is why I am sharing this with you and if you are in Aberdeen (or some of the other places that Dymagate has been too) keep your eyes open, You never know what you might find.

Have a good weekend!
